The Government provide an annual ‘Sports Premium’ to schools to ensure that all pupils are accessing a full and effective physical education. At Huntingdon Academy, we work to ensure this funding is spent effectively across the Academy to the benefit of all pupils. This includes funding specialist sports coaches, attendance at competitive sports events, extra-curricular activities and to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles for all pupils. We will ensure that sport and P.E. provision addresses the needs of all pupils, including those who belong to disadvantaged, vulnerable and gifted groups.
All sports provision will aim to increase attainment, inclusive participation, improve confidence, develop competitive strategies and hone techniques / skills; whilst encouraging a life-long love of sport, together with an understanding of the health benefits participation in sports activities brings.
Sport Premium Funding will enable Huntingdon to fulfil the following aims:
For P.E. every child is provided with a school P.E. kit consisting of blue shorts and a burgundy short sleeved t-shirt. When children are working in the hall they are usually expected to work bare foot. Your child may want to bring an extra sweatshirt or track suit for outdoor games in cold weather. Footwear should be trainers or plimsolls.
The school runs many sports clubs after school throughout the year for all age groups. There are two sports apprentices who support in P.E. lessons and run games activities throughout the breaks and lunchtimes as well as also running sports clubs after school.

Vision Statement
As a school we believe that all pupils have an entitlement to achieve their potential whatever their circumstances. As a school we will provide opportunities to break through barriers, increase resilience and place inclusivity at the heart of all we do. The leadership of the school we will ensure that all resources are effectively deployed to ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to succeed.
Our vision is to ensure that teaching and learning meets the needs of all pupils and that appropriate provision is made for pupils in vulnerable groups. This also includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils (FSM) are identified and strategies put in place to narrow the gap in their attainment.
In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged and that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered, or qualify, for free school meals. As a result we reserve the right to allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or group of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged. Any group will be made up of FSM and non-FSM pupils with similar needs.
This funding is called the Pupil Premium.

Every academy and school can select how they choose to use their Pupil Premium allocation, as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for students. Every school needs to be held accountable for how this money is spent, which is why we make details of how it is used available on our website.
The purpose of Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for free school meals and allocated to a school as a proportion of any children who have been receiving FSM in the previous 6 years.
The Pupil Premium funding that is received by Huntingdon Academy is used in a variety of ways in order to improve pupil attainment and to help overcome any barriers to learning. This extra money is specifically targeted for the most disadvantaged children.
We value all children equally whatever their background, and aim to provide a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere that does not discriminate on the grounds of gender, ethnicity, culture, religion or ability.
Quality first teaching have been timetabled to allow modelled and scaffolded teaching available for vulnerable groups. This allows us to give every child the chance to go as far as their abilities and effort can carry them and close the gap.
Our Pastoral and Inclusion team includes five members, they work alongside the teacher to provide additional support for the most disadvantaged.
The Pastoral and inclusion team can provide a bridge across academic and pastoral support roles. This will involve dealing with all of those who make up the learning partnership, including parents, as the role is typically about forming a relationship with the pupil, school staff and parents or carers in order to improve the pupil’s achievement.
