6B is taught by Miss Wraight. We have named our classes after famous authors and 6B is named after our author Malorie Blackman. She is a British writer who held the position of Children’s Laureate from 2013 to 2015. She primarily writes literature and television drama for children and young adults. She has used science fiction to explore social and ethical issues.

Assessments

This year, SATs week runs from May 11th – May 14th. The children will follow the timetable of tests below.

Monday 11th May – Grammar, punctuation and spelling test.

Tuesday 12th May- Reading Comprehension tes.

Wednesday 13th May – Paper 1 Arithmetic and Paper 2 Reasoning.

Thursday 14th May – Paper 3 Reasoning.

Alongside the regular homework set, we recommend that pupils spend some time revising topics covered in school. Here are some links to useful websites for working at home:

Homework

Homework is set weekly. Children will be given a set of spellings and timestables to learn each week and then they will have a test on these every Friday. Reading is a vital part of learning in primary school, helping children build vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence across all subjects. In Year 6, we encourage every child to read at least three times a week to support their progress and develop a lifelong love of reading. Each time children read, they will continue to earn stamps on their bookmarks. After 50 reads, they will receive a token to spend in our reading book vending machine.
